Get ready Star Wars fans! If you have always dreamed of being a Jedi Knight and carrying around an awesome light saber, or you have imagined yourself being a wicked bounty hunter, here is your chance. Star Wars: The Old Republic is the newest in multiplaying online gaming, and after weeks of playing myself, I have come to the conclusion that I love it!

Characters:

What I am most impressed with is the wide range of characters you can create. You can be a Jedi, Bounty hunter, Sith, etc. You can choose to be human or alien. The game allows you to add unique features to each character.  I sat there for ten minutes trying to create my character’s hair! I don’t know why, I just wanted it to be right.

Character Development:

How you interact with others, and how you complete your quests, affects how good or evil you are. The way you play affects how close to the dark or light side you are. If you’re playing a Sith, you could play your character in a way that allows them to maybe be a little good. I really enjoy this element of the game. It gives you room to really create an awesome character and background story.

Quests:

I have to admit that if you are new to the world of online gaming, as I am, it can be difficult to get started. The quests appear harder than the beginning quests in World Of Warcraft. I find myself constantly sitting there, trying to figure out where my quest is and what they want me to do. However, there seems to be no end to the quests, and you can go off in as many different directions as you want. I, myself, am sticking to completing the quest given to me by my Jedi Master. I know -  I’m a bit boring that way.

Graphics:

AMAZING! So far I have been really impressed by the graphics. If feels like I am truly submersed in the Star Wars Universe. This may be a bit dorky, but I really feel like I am in a movie. Besides the awesome graphics, the background music really makes me feel a part of the game. It has elements of the classic Star Wars theme music, yet is just a bit different which makes it uniquely Old Republic. Please, create a soundtrack to this game. I would buy it!

Other Stuff:

Controlling my character is easy, although I am still trying to figuring out how to communicate with others (I want to know how to dance). I do have one complaint though; I wish the maps were easier to read. I am constantly getting lost, and I wish that there was a way I could pinpoint where my quest is. If there is a way please let me know.

Considering that I am still a newbie to online gaming, I hope that you will forgive this rather basic review of the game. What I really wanted to express to you was how AWESOME this game is and how much fun I am having playing it. I encourage every Star Wars fan to purchase Star Wars: The Old Republic you will not be disappointed. I will post another review when I have reached a higher level and when I figure out all this online gaming stuff. So until next time, maybe I’ll see online sometime and May The Force Be With You!

Ending with a huge bang, Star Wars: The Clone Wars season finale episode “Revenge” left us wanting more. The season ended on a great cliff hanger, but how did the season as a whole do? Is this show getting better with age, or is it still hit and miss?

Think back to the first episode “Water War” where we were submerged underwater for the three part arc. The animation was amazing, considering that all the characters had to look like they were swimming under water and the background was dark and murky. It was impressive and showed the improvements that were made in the graphics.

Speaking of which, the creators of this show are addicted to story arches, most of the stories took up two or three episodes. I didn’t mind this at all, though I felt that some of the stories dragged on for way too long. Case and point “Water Wars” did not need two extra episodes devoted to it. Then there were some stories such as “A Friend In Need” which would have been more awesome as a three parter.

What I am still miffed about is the ending to the Krell story. Here you have a Jedi who turns to the dark side, slaughters tons of Clones, then is killed by a Clone and we never see the Jedis do anything? I thought it was a bit weird for us not to see the Jedi Council discuss this matter at least, and the ending made me feel that it was rushed. It shouldn’t have felt that way since four episodes were given to it.

The best part of this entire season was the appearance of Darth Maul and the complete turnaround of Ventress. Wow, Wow, Wow! The team behind The Clone Wars did a great job in creating the “bottom half” of Darth Maul and making it believable that he could return to life after being cut in half by Obi-Wan Kenobi. I also admire them for sticking to the character.  His voice, looks, and attitude all line up perfectly with the Darth Maul in Episode I. Sam Witwer was the voice for Darth Maul, and he did a great job. Darth Maul’s voice was dark and creepy.

Now let’s talk about Ventress, a character that I never really paid attention to until this season. This cold hearted evil woman of the Dark Side does a 180 and turns into a nicer bad guy. Okay, so she doesn’t start selling Girl Scout cookies or baking bread, but she does save a young woman from a horrible fate and rescues Obi-Wan. In this season, they have really developed Ventress into an interesting character. I look forward to seeing more of her in the upcoming season.

Here it is folks, my opinion of this season. It had a few rough patches, but overall it did have some incredible stories and awesome characters. This season seemed to be leading us closer to the prequels movie timeline. There were a few episodes I could have lived without, *cough* “Nomaid Droids”, but most of the time I was kept on the edge of my seat. I can’t wait till next season, and I hope they keep Ventress on permanently.

May The Force Be With You!

"The enemy of my enemy is my friend" is the title for the new Star Wars: The Clone Wars episode airing tonight on the Cartoon Network. In the last episode, "Brothers" we learned that Darth Maul is a crazy half spider guy. Not really what I was picturing Darth Maul looking like. I'm still on the fence as to whether or not I dig the crazy insane Maul. It's not bad I mean crazy or not Darth Maul is still fierce, but I was hoping for Darth Maul to spend those long years gaining strength and forming an evil plan to kill Obi-Wan Kenobi.

It was still a great episode and still strong despite it being the 3rd episode in this 4 part arc. One complaint that I have, was there really a need to have Anakin and Ashoka show up? They did nothing. Anakin just says he has a bad feeling and they grab a bite to eat. We haven't seen much of these characters so perhaps it was just a way to let the fans know that they still were a part of the show.

I'm looking forward to tonight's final episode and the huge battle between Obi Wan, Darth Maul, and Savage. What a great way to end this season. Feel free to share your thoughts on these episode I LOVE feedback.

I know all of you Star Wars fans out there have a million questions your dying for George Lucas to answer I know I do. However, the likely hood of George answering those questions is slim. For today’s blog I thought it would be cool to gather all those burning questions people have. Who knows maybe another fan has the answer or these questions can jump start some awesome debates. If you have a question that is not listed below feel free to leave a comment or shoot us an email.

Questions:

1.        How does anyone understand r2d2?

2.       Who thought it was a good idea to make Jar Jar a senate representive?

3.       Why don’t we see more dead Jedi appearing through the use of the Force?

4.       Why does Yoda talk backwards?

5.       Do the different lightsaber colors mean anything?

6.       Did Palpatine throw the fight against Windu?

7.       What is Palpatine’s first name?

8.       What’s taking the T.V show (live action) show so damn long!?!

9.       In the Star Wars: The Clone Wars why is there more than one Sith?

10.   How did the Force come into existence?

Thanks for all the great questions you sent in.  Many of these could spark some awesome debates! Thanks George Lucas for one awesome universe that allows us to really sink our teeth into it. Was it just me or was the new episode “Massacre” from the Star Wars: The Clone Wars totally AWESOME!!!! I know it lacked Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Ashoka , but it was one jammed packed episode. With the return of the Nightsisters, Ventress, and General Grievous this was an episode all about the bad guys.

Let’s discuss Ventress for a moment. I hope that we do not have another episode without my main characters (listed above), but Ventress was able to hold her own in this episode. I found myself strangely rooting for her as she joined the Nightsisters and fought to protect them. I highly doubt she will become a “good guy” for a lack of a better term; however, it seems that she has left the dark side for good. Ventress , despite my misgivings of there being more than one Sith, is a well-developed character good or bad.

Very popular among Clone Wars fans are the Nightsisters and rightly so. They are amazingly designed and the idea of witchcraft being used instead of the Force is intriguing. A Star Wars friend of mine made the comment that they are rather cliché. As he put it, “All they need are pointy hats and brooms.” I agree with him the use of voodoo and smoldering cauldrons reminded me of Shakespeare’s witches in “Macbeth."  Despite the obvious clichés, they made up for it with awesome weapons, armor, and it was nice to see Count Dooku get his butt kicked.

General Grievous, the wicked cyborg, slaughtered the Nightsisters and almost destroyed Ventress. I knew Ventress was not going to be able to stop him. I mean, he does show up in Episode III, but the battle between the two was amazing. Just a side note, every time Grievous is in a Clone Wars it seems he is nothing but a big wuss. I was mildly surprised at how powerful he was in this episode, and I liked it. It is about time we see Grievous as an evil and destructive bad guy! When we see Grievous this way, it makes you realize what a powerful Jedi Obi-Wan is when he kills Grievous in Episode III “Revenge of The Sith."

Overall, I really enjoyed this episode. I was surprised we did not see Darth Maul, but that did not dampen my enjoyment. This will be an amazing arch to end Season 4 of The Clone Wars. I heard a rumor that we might receive a cliff hanger, which I think is a cool way to end the season.

May The Force Be With You!
